Almost everyone in the world has no time for anything, including myself. When I started in this industry, I knew it was going to be a lot of hard work, but fun. However, every once in a while I get sucked into the hard work part, and forget about the fun part.
1. Schedule days and/or times to relax, and don't let anything stop you from chilling the **** out.
If you just tell yourself "I'll take a break when I get around to it," it will never happen, because something will always come up, and pull you back. I for one am not the most organized person in the world, so I just tell myself this day, or these two hours I will do something that will help me relax, sometimes if I'm really busy I'll set alarms to remind me when it's time to chill.
2. Find something you enjoy to occupy your off time so it is something you like, but isn't work related.
This really helps me because I love what I do, so on my days off I still want to do video stuff, and I tell myself do something else. Go to the gym, play video games, take a walk, call up an old friend I haven't spoke to in a while, pick up a new hobby, or go out to lunch by myself. Anything that will change things up, and force me to take a break.
3. (This is a personal one) If I can remember to tell myself, "No one will want to see you if all you do is work" then I very quickly remember to take a break, because people are more important than work.
No one wants to be around workaholics. A lot of us may be a workaholic, but lets calm it down a bit. Because if I go to long only thinking work, and not enough relaxing I can get antisocial, boring, and mean. I for one don't want that.
4. You'll be happier.
We have to learn that life is not all about work. Life is also not all about ourselves. Life is also not all about other people. Life is a mixture of many things, and if we have an imbalance of things we will not be as happy. Take it from someone who has experienced this before.
These are things that I do, and there might be other things you guys do that I didn't think about. Comment what things help you take a break from the hustle and bustle!
Here's a video I made while on a hike in Arizona that I hope makes you want to go outside and get some fresh air. Thanks!
